Private Air Charter Explained

Charter Explained
Chartering an aircraft is much easier than you might think. The basic steps are outlined here: Call us and tell us the details of your trip. This would include departure date, number traveling, destinations, number of days staying, etc. Our staff will provide a quote, let you know what different aircraft would cost, and help you firm up the details. See benefits of hiring aircraft.

You tell us what time you would like to leave and any special catering requests. Your flight crew will have your aircraft ready for departure within 30 minutes of your scheduled departure time. We prepare early so you do not need to wait in case you get ahead of schedule.

As soon as you arrive, we will load your baggage and immediately depart. Once we arrive at the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) of your destination, we will load your baggage into the car and off you go! Depending on how long you plan to stay, your flight crew may stay, or bring the aircraft back to one of our bases. How Does Charter Compare to the Airlines. See alternatives to chartering

The airlines provide a valuable service to the transportation industry. However, there are times when your travel needs may not be met by the airlines. It is those times when chartering a private jet is your best bet. Here are some significant differences between the two: Schedule As you are probably aware, the airlines operate on timetables. See On demand.

A timetable lists times and city-pairs that the airline operates regular scheduled flights. This arrangement may work well if you travel often between two major cities and always on a fixed schedule.

Unfortunately, there is not flexibility in this system. If you need to change cities at the last minute, depart later than planned, or fly to a city not served by the airline; you must exchange your tickets and hope you can find a new flight. These changes usually result in additional charges. When you charter a private jet, you build your own timetable.

You can decide what cities you visit

You can decide what cities you visit, what order, and how long to stay at each stop. Last minute changes are usually not a problem and rarely incur 'ticket-change' fees. You also have thousands more destinations available.

Many cities have airports, but do not have major airline service. Furthermore, many large cities have business airports closer to downtown areas that are not accessible by the airlines. Cost The airlines can often provide lower cost tickets between two cities because the airlines are spreading the cost of the trip between all of the passengers. There could be 250 passengers of some aircraft flying at once. These large passenger loads are key to how the airlines create revenue. However, because the cost per person is relatively low, they must have every seat filled to maximize their profits. This is why flights are often over-sold.

The airlines are expecting some people to not show for the flight. In response, they over-sell so they have passengers ready to fill those now vacant seats. If you have ever been 'bumped' from a flight even when you hold a paid ticket, you know how frustrating this system can be. When you charter a private jet, you are not paying for the 'seat', but rather for the aircraft. It is like renting a car and driver, versus taking a public bus. Most charter trips are billed by the hour.

Obviously, a short trip of 30 minutes will cost less than a three-hour trip. Your rate is not dependant on the number of passengers you take along. It would cost the same whether it is just you, or you and seven family members. We have compared the cost of a private charter versus the airlines for any given trip. We learned that if you share the cost between eight passengers, it would cost only slightly more that if each person had a first-class ticket on service offered by a major airline. We believe that for many individuals, the benefits of charter far outweighs the additional cost. Security Since September 11, 2001, the air transportation industry has been swamped with new security requirements. It is our opinion that the airlines are doing the best they can to secure your safety. We also recognize that it is a huge task and has already resulted in increased ticket fares and long security delays.

Most airlines advise you to arrive at the airport three hours before your scheduled departure to pass through the screening process. Most passengers understand this is necessary when you fly with hundreds of strangers. When you charter a private jet, you have a much higher degree of control on the security aspects of the trip. The largest being that you decide who flies with you. You will never be asked to fly with strangers against your will. In addition, rarely will you ever pass through a large terminal to board a private jet.

Most of the time, you will pass through a private business that provides support functions to the private jet industry. These are referred to as Fixed Base Operators (FBOs). Many of them provide in-house security for you and your baggage. We take your security very seriously and we are always working to ensure your safety and security. We have tried to provide you answers with some of the most common questions.
